The Basics of Roullete
Roullete, or simply Roulette, is one of the most popular casino games worldwide. It offers glamour, mystery, and excitement to casino-goers of all ages, and it is also relatively easy for beginners to understand. However, this classic game has a surprising level of depth for serious betters to explore.
The wheel:
The roulette wheel is a static, convex-shaped disk with 36 red and black numbered compartments arranged alternately around the perimeter of the wheel, with a green pocket marked with a 0 (or 00) on American wheels. A croupier spins a small white ball, which then drops into one of the compartments, if it lands on a number the player has betted on.
A Straight Bet:
When you place a straight bet, you’re wagering that the winning number will be either the first, second, or third dozen on the layout. The house gets its edge from the fact that if the ball lands on a 0 or 00, all outside bets lose. This bet pays out 1-1.
Split Bet:
A split bet is placed when you place your chips to straddle the line between two numbers on the roulette layout. If either of those numbers wins, you’ll receive a payout of 17-1. Street Bet/Three Number Bet/Side Bet/The Trio:
The Street bet is a simple bet that you place your chips so that they straddle the border of three consecutive numbers on the roulette layout. If any of those numbers win, the payout is 11-1.
Odd or Even Bet:
In this bet, you’re betting that the winning number will be either the 18 odd numbers on the layout (1-18) or the 18 even numbers (19-36). Again, if the 0 or 00 comes up, all outside bets lose. This is an even money bet, with a payout of 1-1.
